Adventure

Adventure activities at Sporting Scotland

Activities are run as either individual disciplines or as challenge events, in which several complementary activities are done in sequence over one or two days. Many of these activities are used in team building and hospitality programmes as well as for private groups. Sporting Scotland provides all gear necessary to safely participate in these activities. Our team of professional instructors teach all the skills needed to fully enjoy the challenges of the sport. For information on the team of professional instructors leading these sports refer to The Team.

Canoeing & Sea Kayaking

Most canoeing is done on two of Scotland’s most exciting rivers, the River Spey and the River Findhorn. The River Spey, one of Britain’s fastest flowing rivers provides enjoyment with its combination of easy and white water for the novice as well as the experienced canoeist. The River Findhorn is renowned as Britain’s best white water river and provides exhilarating kayaking with its rapids, deep gorges and technical challenges suitable for those with more experience. The majority of the Scottish east, north and west coast offer spectacular sea kayaking opportunities around its golden beaches, coves, islands and cliffs. Sporting Scotland uses inflatable canoes and rafts, which provide optimum safety.

Canyoning & Abseiling

Canyoning in the Craig Meagaidh National Nature Reserve and Brig o’ Brown is categorised as an extreme adventure sport. Participants tackle rapids and fast flowing water, swim under waterfalls and speed slide, jump and abseil down rock faces into pools of varying depths.

Alternatively, spectacular gorge and mountain walks as well as climbing are available in the Cairngorm National Park.

Sporting Scotland offers abseiling activities from canyons, gorges and mountains as well as buildings, even castle turrets.

Mountain Biking

Scotland is a top mountain biking destination and has some of the most scenic and technical mountain biking trails throughout the Highlands and Islands which are ranked among the best in the world. Glentress is the ultimate trail and only 40 minutes from Edinburgh. Closer to our HQ, Moray’s Monster Trail and Wolftrax offer challenging rides.
